Butch loves to play. We finally were empty nesters and going on on golf trips for him. I was stuck in the motel, the dogs were boarded, and Butch was having a ball....hhhhhmmmmmm, I said, "There's something wrong with this picture."
So I changed it! He liked to play competitively, but not out of town, so I decided I could start showing dogs, and he could play golf while I was at the show. Dogs would be happy, I would be happy, and Butch would be happy.
I also knew one must retire INTO something, not FROM something for retirement to be successful. Learned that in my Master’s program since I had an emphasis on aging. So as we looked toward the future and retirement, the idea of dog breeding/showing and golfing sounded like a great combination.
And that’s how it all started.
The picture, by the way, is us at the 12 th hole of the Master’s, The AMEN corner this year (2011). We were fortunate enough to go, and it was a BLAST. We will go again if we are lucky enough to be selected by the Masters’ committee for tickets. We now are fortunate enough to have a vet tech who comes in and dog sits, so the dogs are happy too.
